WigBoutique.ca is locally owned by Jo-Anne & Ted Cross.
Our store offers a peaceful and welcoming atmosphere with a cozy and pretty setting. You will find 500 wigs in synthetics and human hair in stock and ready to be tried on. We are prepared to service your every need and you can rest assured, your experience will be positive and pleasant. We understand the anxiety and fear hair loss causes and are very compassionate. This is why we carry a large variety of styles, colors and price range. We know how important it is to be able to try on wigs, rather than look through books to order. At Wig Boutique there is no catalogue shopping. They are all in the store!!
Jo-Anne will always be there to greet you, while Ted’s involvement keeps him busy, but behind the scenes. He plays an important part in the every day operations. Every morning before opening, he is busy with many chores, but is usually gone by the time we open! His many duties continue with all kinds of marketing and errands as well as picking up ladies who may not have transportation. I could not do it without him and I know we make a great team!
I am often asked this question: “What made you start a wig business?” So, here is a brief explanation. After selling our Bed & Breakfast we bought an R.V and planned to take one year off before embarking on our next business (whatever it may be). With a son and granddaughter in Florida the decision to spend the winter there was not difficult. Ted and I loved dancing and made it a practice to go weekly. We noticed that many ladies had different hairstyles from one week to the next and it dawned on us that they were wearing WIGS!
I complimented one of them and told her how her hair was always beautiful looking. She snickered and said: “ It’s a wig! I have a few of them. I can change styles often and it is so quick. Instant hairdos! I love my wigs.”
My thoughts were: “Wow, not only are wigs in style, but the ladies wear them proudly and are not hiding the fact that they are wearing one. Not like the old days, when you did not want anyone to know! Times have changed.”
So wigs are in style and Sudbury is home to the North Eastern Cancer Centre. Bingo! Now there were 2 needs in Sudbury for a wig store. Fashion and for ladies with hair loss. The idea for our new business was born!
We were very exited and also confident that our idea was a good one! A lot of research and homework was done to get educated on this industry and I am grateful to Donna from Tiffany Wigs in Florida for sharing her time, wisdom and experience so freely with me.
After a lot of searching, we found a fantastic location. This is how WigBoutique.ca went from being a dream to a reality. And I LOVE IT!
Sudbury gals of all ages are having fun! Buying wigs for all kinds of reasons. Even when it is because of hair loss, the ladies are leaving much happier than when they came in; most of them walk out wearing their wigs and sporting a smile from ear to ear!

WigBoutique.ca is tastefully decorated with a relaxing atmosphere. There are 3 vanities equipped with comfy chairs & mirrors. When privacy is preferred, we can easily facilitate that. Flavoured tea, pop or a cold glass of water is always available.
I am a Sudbury girl, maiden name Lavigne. Chris, Ryan & Josh Cooney are my sons. Ted, my husband has a son and daughter. We have 5 grandchildren. When I met and married Ted in 1996, I moved to Ottawa. We made Sudbury our home in 2009. I am thrilled to be back in my hometown close to family & friends again. I am especially pleased to be blessed with a business that provides a much needed service to our community.
As a result of this business, I met a great lady who is a CANCER SURVIVOR. She has spearheaded fundraising for much needed equipment at our Cancer Treatment Centre that would eliminate the need for ladies to travel to Timmins for certain tests when faced with breast cancer. Because of this relationship, we are proud to say that we donate $5.00 from each CHANEL piece of jewellery we sell to the the ANGELS IN PINK, who raise funds for the NCF BREAST CANCER EQUIPMENT FUND.
